Exclusive: Sam Raimi On Evil Dead 4 And more on Drag Me To Hell
Hitting shelves now, the May issue of Empire features a Big Interview with Sam Raimi, a long and wide-ranging chat that featured the thrilling revelation that the god of gore has started work on a script for Evil Dead 4. "We've got nine pages so far. Every time I'm with my brother Ivan, we write another page of it. It's in Detroit and in my garage."
Confirming that he has Bruce Campbell firmly in mind to reprise the iconic role of Ash ("Unless you think I should do it?"), Raimi shared some pointers on what the script has in store so far. "There's some dialogue. Ash being an idiot. Ash taking some abuse. Some character stuff and then some structure of Act Two. Just other possibilities for things that could happen. It's ideas, jokes, things we'd like to see."
It's still early days for the project then, but if you run into Ivan Raimi, it's well worth forcing him onto a plane to Michigan.
Sam is of course back shortly to scare us witless with Drag Me To Hell, and he enthused about his return to the horror genre - and a movie that's been a labour of love. "We decided we wouldn't make it if we couldn't do it the way we wanted to," he explained. "It's funny: usually you take that point of view with artistic-type films, but for me horror films can't be deluded either. They have their own cheesy integrity that needs to be stuck to."
The Big Interview features more from Raimi on Drag Me To Hell - by all accounts a cracking return to form (click here to check out the trailer) as well as plenty on the Spider-Man franchise, the origins of Evil Dead and - wait for it - his boyhood aversion to horror ("I had some intense experiences as a kid watching horror"). Pick up this month's Empire for the full interview.

Thank god it's gonna be Bruce Campbell, and not Britain's love god that is Ashley Cole. I think Rio and co are going to be disappointed though. ... Read More
Evil DEad 4, raimi, why do you tease us deadite's?
I think Raimi might not be dicking around this time, every film convention or comic book fair he goes too there have been EVIL DEAD fans in the audience eager to pounce him with his most asked question. Sam will there be an EVIL DEAD IV? and is Bruce back as ASH? i hope he does it, if not for me a humble horror fan, but also for the sheer sanity shredding tedium of been asked that question durimg every interview he does, i dont blame him dicking people around a little bit, but now is the time to... I Think if anyone else was up for directing, Bruce would turn it down. However, I don't see how or why Raimi would make it without Bruce in Ash character. I'm just hoping they don't throw too much money at it. ... Read More

Evil Dead 4! The very thought makes me do a naughty in my undercrackers. Although when I saw the heading I thought that it was all a tease and that the only news that Empire were sharing about Evil Dead 4 was that it's not happening, but it is. I believe. ... Read More
