First Pic From New Von Trier Film Lars gets naughty in Antichrist
It's been a little while since arthouse enfant terrible Lars Von Trier last tried to really shock us, but on the evidence of this first picture from Antichrist, he's back on form in his next film, which he describes as a "psychological thriller / horror".
The story sees Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg play a married couple who retreat to a cabin in the woods after losing their young son. There, they run into some "terrifying occurrences" (and it's presumably a variation on that that we see here): according to one report, Dafoe's character is a therapist trying to help his wife deal with her grief, and it's when that grief runs wild that things start to go weird.
The film doesn't have a UK release date yet, but keep eyes peeled. And is anyone else looking at this picture and thinking The Fountain? Just us? OK.
Have no fear Empire, i too looked at this image and immediately thought of The Fountain. On seeing the picture i was cast back to the hour and a half i wasted on Hugh Jackman (or should i say Huge Action) in a snowglobe with a dead tree.
