Forest Whitaker To Join The Expendables Stallone. Lundgren. The Stath. Source: Hollywood Reporter
Potentially the most awesome action cast of all time just became a little awesomer with news that Forest Whitaker is in negotiations to join The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone’s latest writing/directorial project.
The Expendables sees the wildly over-the-top team of Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham and ultimate fighting champion Randy Couture as a team of unfeasibly pitiless mercenaries put together to overthrow a corrupt dictator in the fictional South American republic of Corza. Whitaker will play their CIA liaison officer, presumably overseeing their death-defying mission from a safe distance.
While Oscar-winner Whitaker could add gravitas to what sounds like a romp, Empire is particularly excited by the prospect of Stallone’s reunion with Rocky IV nemesis and all-round action titan Lungdren, last seen knocking heads together as a Bible-bashing biker in 2007’s Missionary Man (which he also directed).
Dirtier than the Dirty Dozen, wilder than the Wild Geese and more grammatically correct than the Inglourious Basterds, The Expendables hit our screens in 2010, with shooting scheduled to begin in March.
Its going to be great seeing Dolph on the big screen again.
Not so great - the number of people saying "I will break you" when he appears on screen. ... Read More
All I have to hear now is that Sly has a part for Michael Dudikoff where he shows the Stath how it's really done. I also hear he is trying to sign up his "Demolition Man" co-star Sandra Bullock (what a shame he can't get Snipes at the present time) ... Read More
any other nutty 80s macho guys looking to tool up for 'one last mission'?
How about Mad Martin Riggs and a REALLY pissed off John McClane (without any CG jet surfing) taking down some really bad dudes somewhere.
I loved Lethal Weapon - great movie. Shame they went and spoiled it all... ... Read More
Arnie shouldn't be governing stuff, he should be shooting stuff. And he should definitely be in this film. Brigitte Nielsen as a femme fatale, anyone? I know she's a tad old/weighty these days but give her Jane Torville's workout DVD and she'll be back in shape in no time. ... Read More
ALRIGHT. It's seems there's gonna be a Dirty Dozen face off with Inglorious Bastards, also out this year. As Harry Hill say 'Who'd win in a fight between a Sly pic and a Tarrantino film? There's only one way to find out. FIGHTG!!!! I agree with adrian in that if there's any film that needs JCVD it's this. When news of this first broke out I said it would make the awesome cast more awesomer, and it would act as a reunion for the Ultimate Soldiers.
I'm still waiting for Van Dammes black and white... Read More
