New Art For Wrestler And Benjamin Button
Posters for potential Oscar contenders

New Art For Wrestler And Benjamin Button
Brand new posters for The Wrestler and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button have been unveiled over the weekend. Both take a main focus on the stars of the film: Darren Aronofsky's one-sheet is a straight shot of the hunched and worn Mickey Rourke hanging over the ropes, and David Fincher's are individual close-crop portraits of his stars, Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.

Coincidentally, both posters work with a washed out colour palette, and both seem to be gathering momentum as possible Oscar high-hopers, but that is where any similarity ends. Blanchett and Pitt look simple and gorgeous, whereas Rourke looks dinstinctly grimey and sweaty.

Aronofsky's movie is touted as Rourke's big come-back, as he stars as an out-of-shape aging wrestler, fighting to get back into the ring one last time. Fincher's film, based on a story by F. Scott Fitzgerald,  is also looking at the aging process, just the other way round.  Benjamin Button is born an octaganarian, but as time goes on, he becomes younger, aging backwards.

The Wrestler hits our shores on January 16 and Benjamin Button is out on Christmas Day.

In the Benjamin Button trailer The wrinkley little Brad looks just like Robert Redford. They could have saved a fortune on special effects work. Seriously though, looking forward to the film. TheTrailer with the Carnival of the Animals music in really got me hooked. ... Read More

Its not just you
Yeah man I was lookin at that too. Pitt looks tad morphed or something. Shit posters tough. I'm so sick of sepia. The wrestler one would be good if it was just regular colour. The ben button one is just plain boring. The movies still gonna rule though. ... Read More

Is it me...
or is there something more sinister about those Benjamin Button posters. Pitt and Blanchett look...skewed, the Pitt one certainly is reversed as the writing is backwards. I wonder if there's more to these posters than just a couple of boring faces? ... Read More

I think there is something wrong with my screen. Cate Blanchett is undeniably one of the most beautiful actresses gong but on the poster i'm seeing she looks like one of those celebrity children hybrids the Sunday tabloids photoshop up when they run out of kiss n tells ... Read More

Yeah I agree with the previous post about the posters being average. But the Independant/Art/Oscar films coming out this year (next year for us Brits) look to be a very high standard this year. I can't wait for both films. ... Read More

A Curious Case...
The posters look fairly standard although Pitt and Blanchett are unashamedly beautiful people. Benjamin Button is the my most anticipated film for next year and even if these posters aren't exactly whetting my appetite, the film still looks like a blinder. ... Read More
