New Valkyrie Trailer Now Online

Bryan Singer's new film, Valkyrie, now has its final trailer up online, giving a further and better taste of the conspiracy at the heart of this war epic, and showcasing an impressive cast including Tom Cruise, Bill Nighy, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Izzard and Terence Stamp.

The story sees Cruise's Colonel von Stauffenberg play a key role in a conspiracy of German statesmen and army officers trying to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II to save their country from his actions. But all involved run the risk of being branded traitors should they be discovered, or fail in their task.

The film is released on December 26 in the US, but doesn't have a confirmed UK release date at the moment.

No need for an accent
did no one else see that drama about hitler a few years ago with bobby carlyle that was all in english. It didn't take anything away from the story. If they had doen german accents it would of sounded shit and we would have a war film boarderin on parody. Kinda like Captain Corelli's Mandolin ... Read More

Accents
Regardless of anything else people have an issue with one thing that really illustrates a narrow and blinkered view of storytelling is complaints about accents. If anyone had seen Boy In The Striped Pajamas recentley (or many other films through history) they'd know that having actors speaking in their own accents, as opposed to putting on an accents, in no way detracts from the story telling. The reason it works is because all the characters are the same nationality and therefore they don't h... Read More

Is it April 1st part 2?
Looks hackneyed and another Cruise ego fest - I have nothing against Cruise the actor, but Tom saving the world from Hitler...no, its one conceit too far. Obviously I know its based on real events and that he will fail....but boy he should not have been let anywhere near this and neither should Singer. It looks like an action movie, as already mentioned by another esteemed blogger, and a bad one at that. This is the first trailer I've seen for it, I was hoping for better but I will not be forkin... Read More

hang on!!!
i'm not one to tell all these fine actors and a great director how to do their jobs....but....doesnt it add a slight amount of authenticity if the people playing germans (and real people from a historical event no less!) actually have german accents. the film could be brilliant but that just overshadows the whole thing!!! at least they could have had a go! if robin williams can manage it then so can you tom!!! ... Read More

RE: New Valkyrie Trailer Now Online
I am a Tom Cruise fan and certainly a huge Bryan Singer fan but IMHO I think the film would have a lot more credibility if it was made in German and think someone like Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (Lives of Others) to direct would have been even better. I just can't take the actors seriously as Nazi soldiers speaking in American and English accents. I'll still watch it and hope I'm wrong but something tells me I'm going to be a bit disappointed. That aside, I can't wait to see Carice Van Ho... Read More

Hiel Cruise
It might be good but that trailer made it appear to be like a generic American blockbuster. Tom making Sauffenberg appear to be like any other protaganist and in the whole the trailer makes it seem to be like 'something' that happened in history and not a Schindler's List/Munich like re-telling of an historical event. ... Read More

... The new issue of Empire has an ad for Valkyrie right at the front saying 30th January... The Saw music at the end was way too distracting, can imagine a mash up trailer revealing Jigsaw as Hitler. That would be a hell of a twist. ... Read More

Ending of the Trailer
first and foremost, that is looking freaking sweet! i like Tommy C, he is a good actor, and the other bods in it appear to make it a high class cast. but ... why did they need that voice over at the end of the trailer?! all the way through there was no-one telling you things and then all of a sudden there was Mr. America saying the title, i didnt understand why. although i am sure a marketing exec would tell me a reason for it. ... Read More
