Exclusive: Empire Star Trek Cover

These are exciting times at Empire, because our new issue is about to hit shelves and it's jam-packed with exclusive images and interviews from JJ Abrams' Star Trek.

Not only does our cover replicate an iconic Kirk and Spock pose with the new cast, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, but we also shot special character images of both actors and scored some never-before-seen stills from the film itself, showing Kirk and Spock at work on the USS Enterprise.

We talked to both stars and director JJ Abrams about bringing Star Trek to a new generation (sorry) - and as a taster, here's what JJ had to say about the challenges he faced even in the wardrobe department. "For me, the costumes were a microcosm of the entire project, which was how to take something that's kind of silly and make it feel real. But how do you make legitimate those near-primary colour costumes? How do you make legitimate the pointy ears and the bowl haircut? It's ridiculous and as potentially cliched as it gets. How do you watch Galaxy Quest and then go make a Star Trek movie?"

"COLLISON COURSE!"
Well done "jj" If the trailer is anything to go by... it`s money well spent!. For he die hard followers, this has got to be a refreshing new spin on a old, tired franchise. For those who can`t quite get to grips with the young kirk and spock you`ve got to get your hands on Bill Shatners"COLLISON COURSE" Now that will get you in the mood for this movie!! ... Read More

Jury is Out on Trek
Putting Pine and Quinto's photo next to Shatner and Nimoy's doesn't put this flick off to a great start marketing wise. I don't mind them keeping the color scheme for the uniforms, but a styling similar to what we saw the crews wear in the last Matrix movie would have been pretty cool. Two hundred years into the future I think space travelers will still want to dress for functionality. I prefer that we put the franchise to rest. ... Read More

RE: Urg...
Good job the content is on par though. And a good tribute to Paul Newman too. But has anyone else seen that really weird photo in the Star Trek feature where it looks like there's an eyeball perched on top of the Enterprise? ... Read More

Urg...
What the hell is wrong with Quinto's right eye? It looks very strange. Can't say it's the most inspiring cover either...   Edit: Technically I mean his left eye, but I meant right from our perspective... ... Read More

Oh brother...
This certainly doesn't whet my appetite for more Star Trek. This is downright cheesy. The actors look like your typical television sci fi soap opera players. Even just looking at Shatner and Nimoy next to these two in a simple photo, shows the incomparability in the quality of the actors. They look foolish. Sorry, guys. I hope this is not a preview of the movie. ... Read More

Never Judge a book/magazine by its cover.....Lighten Up
Hey you guys, Ive read some of the posts and its just a magazine cover, its not the bloody film, i think some of you people need to venture out doors and take a look at the real world, because i for one are looking forward to the film and im grateful to empire for getting information of one of the most secret films. As a fan who ventures outside i dont really care how the cover looks. I think the really uptight ones here need to go and get l**d ... Read More
