New Poster for Pixar's Up One-Sheet Theatrical Teaser Online Source: Yahoo! Movies
Disney has released a new theatrical teaser poster for Up, the next film from Pixar Animation Studios.
Perhaps surprisingly, there are no cute animal characters in sight, at least not the protagonists. Plot follows Carl Fredrickson, a 78-year old man who feels life has passed him by. One day he meets Russell, an 8-year old wilderness explorer, whose fearless attitude and inquisitive nature gives Carl a new lease on life. With land developers threatening Carl’s home, and scenic world he inhabits, he and Russell embark on a grand adventure, encountering harsh terrain, wild creatures and unexpected villains.

Expect Pixar’s usual mix of family-friendly themes, with all the laughs, tears and sentiment that goes along with it. Up is released in May 2009.

Old men befriending small children. Don't people normally get arrested for that sort of thing? sp;
Eh...no?
I cant see how people can be judging this so harshly, its a pretty cool poster and as we all know Pixar dont make bad films (although I've never seen Cars). ... Read More
While Disney can be accused of sometimes trying to reinvent Studio Ghibli's magic touch, I don't think you can accuse Pixar of that. They make very different films and whereas the first few fitted the friends on a journey template, they're still wonderful and The Incredibles was very special I thought. Ghibli is often pretty impenetrable but I think their Grave of the Fireflies is the greatest animated film I have ever seen.

It's Pixar so it deserves attention. They haven't made a bad film yet. The worst they can be accused of is making something that's merely good. ... Read More
Reply Option # 1: I appreciate your opinion as towards internationally famous animation studios and respectfully take it onboard for consideration
Reply Option # 2: You are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG - wronger than teaching creationism to children and you can never be right (about anything) ... Read More
DorianAsh: Ah, opinions are such wonderfully diverse things. See, I've always found Studio Ghibli's output to be unfulfilling blends of beautiful visuals and admirable imagination with uninteresting characters and utterly incoherent storylines, and would easily take the worst of Pixar over the best of Miyazaki any day, but hey, horses for courses and all that. Just goes to show, doesn't it? :)
Still, I can't say I'm feeling hugely well-disposed towards Pixar myself at the moment, because I... Read More
Looks like an excuse for some Pixar show off tricks with sky, clouds, sunsets etc which is not necessarily a bad thing. I too would like to jump on the "Don't trash Cars" band wagon. And I agree that Finding Nemo was incredibly over-rated. I invite criticism by saying the same about Wall-E. After Empire's never ending hype about the film, it seemed a bit flat to me. Anyway, what we really need is an Incredibles 2. ... Read More
...Pixar have never come across to me as anything other than a one trick pony who've long since played out that rather rote trick. So some American fanboys of Studio Ghibli (the greatest animation studio of all time, easily poking the stillborn corpse of Disney and their affiliates and imitators in their decomposing eye with a long, pointy stick from across the Pacific) think to themselves "wow, this Miyazaki guy really knows how to make a movie huh? I wonder if we could do that?" An h... Read More
I'm lloking forward to Up, Pixar films are always worth watching, even the naysayers watch them. Re: Karl. Cars is amazing after looking past the living breathing cars its a truly brilliant story about how route 66 was abandoned after the interstates were brought in. Along with that the moral of the story is don't get too big for your boots. Bring on another successful Pixar film i say ... Read More
Old men befriending small children. Don't people normally get arrested for that sort of thing? I have to agree with Shawshank, I wont be rushing out to see this.
But why all the hatred towards Cars? Having a 3 year old son who loves it and watches it constantly, I can safely say it is one of the few Pixar films that stands up to repeated viewings. The races are still thrilling and McQueens journey is still touching. To compare, I watched Finding Nemo at the weekend for the first time in ages ... Read More
