Romero Casts New Zombie Film

George A. Romero's announced the cast for his new zombie movie, which we're going to call Something of the Dead until informed otherwise. Most of the cast, however, come in various shades of unknown, but a few have existing horror credentials.

Alan Van Sprang appeared in both Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead and is back for a third helping of Romero-y goodness, while Devon Bostick also appeared in Land and turned up in Saw IV. Kenneth Welsh starred in, amongst other things, The Fog remake and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, while Athena Karkanis starred in Saw IV.

As for the other three cast members announced today, Richard Fitzpatrick was in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, which was pretty horrific, while Stefano Colacitti turned up in Chronicles of Riddick. And Kathleen Munroe has mainly worked on TV, so she's the most likely to be scared when the dead start to rise on the small island where the story is set.

RE: Diary
All of Romero's 'Dead' films are social commentaries. 'Night' was, now this is just my opinion, a reaction against Vietnam and the anger present in America in the late 60's: The Watts Riots, Realisation that the US Government were fallable and could lie to their people. All sorts of stuff. 'Dawn' was the rise of consumerism and a satire on an AMerica wallowing in capitalism and vacuous materialism. 'Day' is a nihilistic view of Reaganomics, about how the threat of nuclear war and the hopelessne... Read More

Island Of The Dead
Diary was a bit of a dissapointment, however it was still better than had studio interferance, although i love the film it was nowhere near as good as his original Trilogy. Still, i'm a fan of most of romero's movies, i can't wait for the next dead movie. anything has to be better that another shitty RESIDENT EVIL movie. as long as Romero does something exciting, i shall be there to watch. ... Read More

RE: I enjoyed DIARY OF THE DEAD, but...
L: TheMadFatChickKiller rubbish, Land of the Dead was a great film, the only thing that spoiled it was that Universal tried to turn the film into this big Summer film, which it wasn't. I thought Land .. was a good idea with great potential but missed one major factor and that was the scare factor. The lead zombie was  no threat and the zombies were not scary.  Both Dawns.. had zombies that would eventually creep up on you en mass or chase after you relentlessly. Romero ha... Read More
