Rocky Horror Re-Make On The Way
Yes, they're doing the time warp, again

Rocky Horror Re-Make On The Way
Well, this is going to displease some people. MTV is planning a remake of the 1975 musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For those who've never seen it, the bizarre cult perennial, conceived by Crystal Maze eccentric Richard O'Brien, tells of a young couple who unfortunately stumble upon the residence of the cross-dressing scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter (memorably played by Tim Curry). Since the film's success, theatrical versions have played constantly to audiences of (male) students wearing gurdles and heels, but no shame.

There has been no indication of who might direct or star, but the new production will use the screenplay written by Richard O'Brien and Jim Sharman, who directed the original.

Making this film seems a curious choice. Rocky Horror couldn't be much more 1970s if it were wearing a safari suit and watching Charlie's Angels. Do modern audiences want to see this updated or is the tackiness of the period that produced it part of the charm?

WHY OH WHY!
Please tell me this story is just rumour, how can you remake a already flawless classic, whatever next a remake of singing in the rain or hey even grease? - Rocky horror should remain as it is a timeless classic and be left to be discovered by generations to come, not a poor remake of an already extradionary film with a great cast and come on if you think your transexual enough to step into Tim Curry's high heels I want to see them bring it and prove me wrong!! ... Read More

w00t!
I don't know why everyone's getting so upset for - Rocky Horror has always worked better as a live show than it ever did as a film, so there ARE people around that also can play these characters. The Frank n' Furter that's just finished the last tour, for example, was absoluteley superb. The original film itself... well I've seen it more times than I've had hot dinners, and you know what: If they get the right people (maybe some of the current live cast?) and give it the right look, this migh... Read More

Would you rerecord Bohemian Rhapsody? Would you repaint the Mona Lisa? Would you reheat chicken? NO! Why? Because there's no point. Like the Blues Brothers, Apocalypse Now and a handful of other iconic films, a reboot of RHPS should not even be attempted. Remember what happened to The Italian Job, Blues Brothers 2000 and Get Carter? ... Read More

PLEASE, NO!!!
I cannot believe what i'm reading !!! How dare MTV even think of remaking this. This is a cult classic loved by millions and not some bad 80's horror, go and remake one of those if you must. MTV ,stick to what you do well, churning out bad comedy, crap teen films and leave this treasure alone! ... Read More

No, No, No, No, No! This cannot happen. Why remake cult hits? It is a different time and attitudes are different. It was made about 35 yrs ago. Look at the remake of Alfie - pants. Because it is a different time. RHPS works so well because it is from the early 70's. Please don't do this. ... Read More

"played constantly to audiences of (male) students" ... As a frequent visitor to London cinemas playing Rocky Horror in the 80s I can tell you the gender split was pretty equal. It's a fun film that anyone can appreciate. And no, it doesn't need to be remade. ... Read More

This is going to be a train wreck.   Rocky Horror is a classic but it took years and years to gain its place in movie history. Its a product of the 70s and b-movies and theatre...Its perfect as it is.   MTV are the last people who should attempt this.     ... Read More
