Inglorious Bastards Goes Out To Studios Is Tarantino lining up Brad Pitt? Source: Deadline Hollywood Daily
Finally!
Quentin Tarantino has been talking about making Inglorious Bastards – his WWII guys-on-a-mission flick in the vein of The Dirty Dozen and, erm, Enzo G. Castellari’s Inglorious Bastards - for so long now that we thought we might have to borrow some money and start making the damn thing ourselves.
But things have been moving rapidly on the project in the last couple of weeks, with QT first admitting that the script for the movie was at long last finished. Then, in an interview on the upcoming DVD release of Inglorious Bastards, he hinted that he might make it a two-parter, a la Kill Bill.
And today comes the news that not only has QT sent the script out to four major studios, but he’s also talking to one William Bradley Pitt to star.
Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that the script (note: script, not scripts) has gone to interested executives over at Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony. Expect a bidding war to commence for the right to make the movie, which will be produced by QT’s old pal, Laurence Bender (with Harvey Weinstein also possibly attached).
We’ll be surprised if a deal isn’t in place to make the movie at one of those studios within a few days. But we are surprised by Finke’s claim that Tarantino is talking to Pitt for the starring role. The likes of Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy have been linked with Inglorious Bastards in the past (and who knows, they may be again – it will be an ensemble piece, after all), but not Pitt. But Tarantino has proved that he works well with A-listers, and a genuine movie star may be just what the movie needs, after the relative failure of Grindhouse. (Plus, Pitt did pretty well the last time he delivered Tarantino dialogue, in True Romance...)
Needless to say, we’re ridiculously excited about this. This is the dream project for Tarantino, the one that he’s taken ages to perfect. So our hopes are high. More news as we get it.
ulp Fiction was probably his best film, and one of the best films of the 90s, and its influence on modern film is undeniable. Ok so Tarrantino might not be everyone's cup of tea but hes never made a truly terrible film. His ideas are always left-field and the guy has a true love for world cinema. I cant honestly think that death proof was "elephant cack", it was different and enjoyable trash which is what it set out to be.
Whatever the guy does its always going to be intersting an... Read More
I’m really surprised at all the negative comments. It’s unfair to compare all of Tarantino’s future output to Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs. The fact that he is responsible for not one but two modern day classics shouldn’t be held against him, to consider any new movie he’s involved with a failure because it doesn’t reach those exceptional standards is absurd.
Tarantino is one of only a handful of directors who is prepared to take a risk in order to del... Read More

I completely agree with you. 'Reservoir Dogs' & 'Pulp Fiction' (in particular) were fabulous. But I think he is so over-rated, and has a huge ego he feels he can make junk like 'Kill Bill' and the awesful 'DeathProof'. To me, Tarantino views movie-making as a hobby, to fulfill his wild fantasies. I think he gets off on the foul-mouthed girls and fancy he cars he never had when he was younger ('DeathProof'). Which is a shame, because he is extremely talented. ... Read More
Of course, you've never said something is "shit". You've always made sure you laid out your opinions clearly when expressing yourself, giving a series of points to back up your argument. This, of course, has the drawback of making you the most insufferable human being on planet earth. ... Read More
I have my own opinions. Tarantino slid downhill after Pulp Fiction. Jackie Brown has its fans but I found it quite dull. Kill Bill is mostly useless and Death Proof was unwatchable. Just uninteresting characters talking about nothing for hours. He's a great talent, but he isn't using it. Maybe he a two-hit wonder. ... Read More

Just fuck off back under Roger Avary's infinitely more talented shadow.

Yes, it's clear by their filmic output that Avary is more talented than Tarantino (!) ... Read More
Grindhouse was about making movies events again and having a laugh with your friends....i was well up for seeing both films one after the other...the fact i did not still bothers me today...but...ive seen them both seperatly and Death Proof was and is excellent in my opinion far better than Kill Bill vol 2.

if he took a long time to perfect it, it may be like the good old days, i just hope that its not like death proof and his high school stuff, well my high school stuff, all i know is that there's gonna be a lot of pressure on him, for the people, ad him self if this IS his dream project, you know what he needs, he needs the joker, some murderer, a happy and insane murderer who kills for no reason, but as his main role, and he always gets his way, no hero to save the day, and no one can stop him, ...
