Exclusive: Full Cast Back For Descent 2 But how, you ask. But HOW?!
WARNING: Spoilers follow for those who haven't seen The Descent.
The sequel to The Descent has caused us much confusion since its impending existence was declared. When it was announced that the movie is in production, it was stated that Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Mendoza would return for the follow-up to Neil Marshall's brilliant horror hit, even though it was strongly suggested that neither would again see daylight at the end of the first film (if you watched the original cut, not the American edit). Want to be further confused? All the girls from the first movie are reprising their roles. So, as well as Macdonald and Mendoza, that would be MyAnna Buring (Sam), Alex Reid (Beth), Saskia Mulder (Rebecca) and Nora-Jane Noone (Holly).
"We're all back, all the girls have made an appearance" we were told by Buring. "I don't know if I'm supposed to tell you this, but we'll all appear in flashbacks. We had that video camera in the first film, remember, so [it's footage from that]. It was last week that we all rocked up on set in Ealing Studios and they'd mocked up these sets that looked like where we'd shot in the first film...so I went back to being Sam for a day".
Buring also cleared up for us just how this movie follows on from the first. She didn't reveal the full plot, but would say, "Yes, we do pick up from the American ending [where Sarah survives]. So Sarah is very much back and we see her going back and her journey again. I have to say, I think it looks awesome. Jon Harris, who's directing is doing an amazing job."
The Descent 2 is a sequel that still gives us pause, since it would seem to betray the ambiguity of the original, which was one of its strongest points, but fingers crossed that it could surprise us all.
I know folks are entitled to thier opinion but how can anyone think the US ending is better than the UK one?
**SPOILER ALERT***
Lets see, you've lost your husband and daughter in a car crash, one year later you go exploring caves, you get caved in, become lost, get attacked by underground cannibals, your friends get eating, you find out your husband was actually cheating on you with your friend and have to fight for your life to escape. Only American audiences would expec... Read More
I got this out on rental when it was first released so i assume this was the UK version but she makes it out alive and by the sounds of it that only happened in the US version, does anybody know what version we got over here because i'm well confused??? Also where can you get the uncut version from? ... Read More

The UK ending was sh*t. Give me the US ending any day.
I get fed up with horror films where you seemingly have to have no one make it out alive. Life is sh&t enough as it is without having to be reminded of it at the cinema.

As opposed to the cliche of having the protagonist escape but be confronted by a dead character sitting next to them? Thats hardly a unique ending. ... Read More

I so disappointed by the Descent. i know Neil marshall is a friend to the critcis but you'd pumped his film up so much I was expecting wonderful things. in fact it was a poor film at best and not in the least bit scary.
Monsters that can't see, hear (screaming girls) or distinguish between a rock and someones head are just laughable.
Descent 2 is going to be rubbish (as was Doomsday by the way!). ... Read More

An early story synopsis I read goes like this:
"The protagonist escapes from the nightmare creatures but returns along with a special forces team to kick ass"
Sounds familiar? Thought so… ote]
Meh! I said on the original review they should make a sequel where she returns with loads of Marines... only this time the beasties have learnt how to make spears and shit to even it up... ... Read More
I don't understand this - in both edits she DOES NOT DIE. While it might be suggested that she's proper fucked and down there until she falls asleep and starts snoring, and quickly turned to scran, she could still get out there from the UK cut.
My beef with this is Marshall not being in the director's chair, could turn out proper wank if they get some novice fekker. First one was mind-bastard wreckingly superb, and anyone who says different should be banned from a film forum and... Read More

THe ending where she escapes, drives into a tree etc and then wakes up led on the floor in th cave chatting to her dead daughter is the Good ole Blighty version. when in the final scene you see her run off with a dimming torch. The bad ole Johnny Foreigner version is nowhere as near as good and ends when she stares up at the pile of bones and escapes from what i can remember. Probally just after it fades up to black there is a fanfare and probally someone waiting for her with a space blanket and... Read More
