The X-Files 2 Trailer Hits The truth is online – well kinda… Source: 20th Century Fox
Who would have thunk it? After years of searching for the truth, finding the truth and then eventually losing the truth, the truth it seems was in Billy Connolly’s brain all along.
That’s right, The Big Yin, as tabloids are wont to call him, seems to have all the answers in the upcoming sci-fi sequel The X-Files: I Want To Believe – not that you’ll get any just yet of course.
20th Century Fox has revealed the new trailer for Mulder and Scully’s big-screen return and judging by Connolly’s presence in the promo he’s playing a major part in the proceedings.
Obviously there are still very few plot nuggets about Chris Carter’s latest foray into the shadowy world of the ex-FBI agents (the trailer stays pretty schtum), but it’s all looking suitably covert and, well, spooky - plus that theme tunes still pushes our nostalgia buttons.
What we do know is that I Want To Believe finds Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) continuing his quest for that pesky truth and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) is dragged along for the ride – so no change there then.
Obviously, we’ll fill you in on all the latest details like some kind of digital Deep Throat as soon as we get them - until then click here to see the trailer.
Billy Connolly is the last person I expected to see in this sequel its worth going to see it for that reason alone. Talk about unusual casting. The film itself should be good providing it doesn't wind up looking like a feature length episode of the show like the last one did. I wouldn't hold out any hopes for any 'answers' though and we can expect Scully to be conveniently unconscious / blinded / hiding behind a bush when the saucers land (what does it take to convince that woman?) ... ...that this will be a good film. And for all intents and purposes it may well turn out to be. But i fear I will never be able to watch Billy Connolly on screen without picturing him acting out incontinence pants or talking about toblerones or his prostate exam - and that may taint my enjoyment a little... A bit like seeing Eddie Izzard in Ocean's 12 and just thinking 'I'm covered in beeees!' Hold on - perhaps he should have been in the first x-files movie... ... Read More
