500 Days Of Summer For Zooey And Joseph Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt in rom-com Source: Variety
You know, it's getting to the point where the only rom-com cliche more annoying than the girl desperate to find true love is the one where the girl doesn't believe in love. Nevertheless, we're intrigued by the premise of 500 Days of Summer, because the very talented Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have signed up to star.
The story sees Gordon Levitt's character fall head-over-heels in love with a woman who doesn't believe in love, played by Deschanel.
Debutant director Marc Webb will be calling the shots, from a script by The Pink Panther 2's Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Shooting starts in LA this week, but if you can't wait that long for your next Deschanel / Gordon-Levitt fix, you can see Zooey in this summer's The Happening and Joseph in G.I. Joe next summer. So, are the cast good enough to intrigue you despite the so-so premise?
(500) Days of Summer is a winner! Levitt and Deschanel have great chemistry and it is so well written that you really do care about these characters. There are some surreally funny moments - when a post-coital Levitt walks down the street to Hall and Oates' 'You Make My Dreams' and elicits smiles and high fives from everybody in the street. Great soundtrack (mostly British indie) too. ... Read More

It's a matter of how they tell the story that's going to decide whether it's any good or not. Being a fan of both actors, I hope this is really good. ... Read More
I quite like both of these actors, and have the impression that they're both smart people who choose interesting film projects. So I can only assume that the script offers a little more than the run-of-the-mill story that the two line synopsis seems to offer. ... Read More
