A Ton Of G.I. Joe Character Shots Destro, The Baroness, Duke...everyone
A few weeks back, Paramount ran into a bit of a snag on its G.I. Joe campaign. A plan to slowly reveal the characters on a number of websites was scuppered when pictures of everyone turned up on WWTDD.com. And they were pictures that, we can now tell, were unfinished and looked, well, a little cheap. So, to combat any further leaks, the studio has released much slicker looking character shots of everyone all at once. Click the images below for bigger versions.
The pictures show Duke (Channing Tatum), Destro (Christopher Eccleston), The Baroness (Sienna Miller), Storm Shadow (Byung-Hun Lee), Breaker (Said Taghmaoui), General Hawk (Dennis Quaid), Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) and Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje).
As we've said before, G.I. Joe didn't particularly figure in our childhoods, given that they were entirely non-American based, so we can't tell you if these are faithful recreations of the cartoon series. Or, for that matter, who most of these characters are without some major Wikipediaing and a news story that turns into many thousands of words. But do you G.I. Joe fans like what you see? And are you G.I. Joe neophytes enticed to see Stephen Sommers' movie?
Come on - In this country we knew G I Jo as Action Force, which was exactly the same and extremely popular when I was a kid, loads of my friends had the action figures. As for the film all those characters are present and correct. Mostly. ... Read More
I can't say anything about the costume... it's just... not GI Joe, I mean I bet it'll look cool and I hope the plot is decent, but seriously, look at what they did with Speed Racer. That was awesome, costume-wise, I still got a headache after watching it : P
But yeah. I get how X-Men's original costume (ie. Wolverine's ear/eye-flap thing) won't really work well in real life... but come on, it's not like Hawk was wearing tight blue-yellow spandex... what's wrong with brown leather jacket and c... Read More

i hate to say this but i really think that this film will suck the sweat off a monkeys balls.
judging from the character shots its going for some kind of streamlined "Re imagining" bull shit.
it should be really if anything a lot more like the unit with a bit of terminator 2 type action scenes thrown in for good measure.
and lets be honest aren't denis quaid and chris eccelston slumming it a bit here???
i hope i'm wrong as i loved action force and gi joe but i shall remai... Read More
does it look like they are trying to be similar to watchmen, It seems strange to release the costumes at this stage, as that is all these shots show, and many are looking like hero characters a la Xmen. The lighting is also quite similar, but the subject very different. These are essentially military men, so should all look practically the same with a similar uniform, so why are they showing us all the characters' different leathers? I'm waiting for some actual footage before judging any further... Read More
