Exclusive: Mila Kunis Talks Max Payne On her character and the plot
Mila Kunis is the dictionary definition of lovely. She's the dictionary definition of all definitions of lovely (there are up to six of them, depending on your particular dictionary). You'll see her a little later this year in the comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but she's also currently shooting Max Payne.
We're not that well versed with the computer game on which the movie is based, but it's basically about a cop (Mark Wahlberg) who has lost his family and is on a mission to bring those who caused their deaths to justice. We recently chatted with Kunis, who had this to say about the movie.
"For anyone who’s got concerns about Mark [Wahlberg] playing Max Payne, he’s amazing in it. Great actor, great guy," she insists. "I play [an assassin] called Mona Sax who accuses him of murdering her sister and later comes to find out it wasn’t him. They kind of get together and try to figure out who was responsible for the murder of his wife and child and her sister. The whole film is about realising that you can go on a revenge spree and get your revenge but it doesn’t solve the problem. It’s a really great, dark movie. The story actually combines [the games] Max Payne 1 and 2 together. Lots of shooting and gunplay, but what makes this script different is that it’s a really dark, sad movie about a man who loses everything and thinks that the only way he can get it back is by revenge. And comes to terms with realising that he’ll never get it back."
I thought Michael Madsen would have been perfect as Max Payne. He looks right, and more importantly sounds right. He has the perfect voice for all those great voice over parts. Don't get me wrong I like Wahlberg and he is a good actor but I just thought that Madsen would have been a better choice. I'm still excitd by the film and looking forward to it. At least they kept Uwe Boll away from it. ... Read More
I like Max Payne the game, I have both of them on Playstation 2 and they are fun to play. Mark Walhberg is the perfect choice for Max, he has that charm and tough-guy look about him that brings the game to the screen. I'm glad they are following the story from both of the games and let's hope it's not a another fault like Hitman and many other video games movies that fail. ... Read More
I'm a huge fan of the games and would rather the movie would deal with just the first installment (leaving the second for a sequel depending on success).
Taz69: The bullet-time deal in the first game was actually developed before the first Matrix movie went into production. The game was released after The Matrix, but the idea was already there (just one of life's coincidences). They called it bullet-time in the game due to that term being the universally accepted description of what was happe... Read More
She is lovely, not the best photo of her you got there Empire but she still looks gorgeous.
I doubt Max Payne will be any good as it was ordinary shooter that ripped off Bullet-time from The Matrix which made it stand out from the overly busy shooter genre. It never had a thick storyline so I doubt it could make a good movie.
It still be vastly better than the Hitman movie though given Mark Wahlberg and of course the lovely Mila Kunis (given her Family Guy role as Meg she should have some funny... Read More
Meg: I just want to kill myself I'm gonna go upstairs and eat a whole bowl of peanuts.
(Lois and Peter stare in silence)
Meg: I'm allergic to peanuts.

Meg: You dont know anything about me. (runs upstairs)
Peter: Who was that guy? ... Read More
...maybe *acknowledge* the bullet time, or have a stylistic setpiece in there, but they shouldn't go overboard.
Would be fun to see some of the characters from the game too; Jim Bravura and that shifty Russian guy...
They need to pitch hard "R" too. Die Hard 4 left a bad taste in my mouth with the way they'd clearly bowled for PG-13 (and it was a 15 over here anyway!) ... Read More
