We are already very, very excited about The Wolfman, the Benicio Del Toro starring movie that's breathing new life into the old Universal horror staple. The two new images have done nothing to dampen that excitement. In fact, they've made us go a bit giddy. We wouldn't have expected first images from the film to be so revealing, but this is Del Toro in full hairy, bitey glory. And Rick Baker's make up work looks fantastic – though he is somewhat expert in this field, having created the make-up for the still never bettered American Werewolf in London. EW also has an interview with Baker talking about creating the lupine look. This film's had some setbacks on its way to production, with original director Mark Romanek leaving the project to be replaced by Joe Johnston, but our belief that this will be one of the most exciting big budget projects of next year is completely unshaken.

Looks very promising.
I have faith in Joe Johnston. He is a very underated director. The Rocketeer was loads of fun (should have been a series really), Honey I Shrunk the Kids was very entertaining and Jurassic Park 3 was the best of the sequels (sorry Mr Spielberg, Lost World was overall pants with acouple of great moments). I'm not so sure about this myself. The actual effects look good, but - and I'm basing this purely on the those two images right now - the production just looks a little cliched. I'd like it to be a good dark, character movie but the midnight blue/black coupled with silvery smoke effect makes it look like it's going to be "Hollywood dark", a la singUnderworld can't see it being any better or well-received than those films.
