Bale Talks Dark Knight Sequel
It's not definite? What?! Why?!
Source: Entertainment Weekly

Bale Talks Dark Knight Sequel
It had long been our understanding that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale would make a trilogy of Batman films. Nolan has said in the past that he has no set story for a third and The Dark Knight is not the first in a two-part story. But we don't consider that an excuse and choose to ignore it.

EW spoke to Christian Bale recently and when the prospect of a third film was raised, he had the following to say. "Um, look, let's wait and see...You know, obviously the decision is out of my hands. I would, knowing the Dark Knight story, I would like very much to complete a trilogy. And I think that knowing the story of The Dark Knight, it leaves you anticipating something that really can get very, very interesting for a third. Now, the question would be: Is Chris going to be doing it? Because to me I find it tricky to imagine working on it without it being a collaboration with Chris."

That would actually appear to refute Nolan's statement that The Dark Knight is not a set-up for another film. Surely Nolan would want to round out his time on the franchise with three films? Leaving after two is just untidy and he wouldn't want someone coming along and doing a Schumacher to all his hard work.

Is there something we can do to persuade him? Should we send flowers? Muffins? A note saying that he has to make a third and put Catwoman in the next one and have either Angelina Jolie or Charlize Theron play her or we'll rub him with unsanded wood so that he gets splinters, which could become infected and cause great, great discomfort? 'Cos we'll do it.

Go to EW for the rest of the interview.

re: much of the below
Angelina Jolie vs Pffpfpfffeiffer - Michelle was great at the time, but just the thought of Angelina in that leather makes me want to faint...bring it on Nolanator - and Catwoman/Selina is inherently a super-freak and that sums up Jolie completely. Justice League - this has moved around so much, do we really think it is going to happen? after the cross over success of Marvel's first home grown offerings DC have got to be thinking more strategically about their franchises...surely? RIP Heath - ... Read More

Can't see the wood for the trees?
Personally, I think Bale's comments have been taken entirely out of context - to me, the way I read it had more out of respect for the recent passing of Heath Ledger than to start presuming about a third film so soon after his death. ... Read More

If they ever cast Jolie as Catwoman I'd throttle her!
Jolie as Catwoman!!!! That certainly wouldn't swing it with Chris - are you guys nuts? She looks like a monkey, not a cat. Charlie - OK, but lets face it - no-one is ever gonna beat Michelle Pfeiffer in the role. ... Read More

Justice League KILLS THE DARK KNIGHT
SOrry if i'm behind the times, but i thought it came out a while back that Nolan was very unimpressed with Warners basically pissing all over his recreation of Batman on film by casting a completely different actor, (and Character type0 in their Justice League movie, and as such he said he had no interest in Batman anymore. did i just dream that empire dudes? ... Read More

CONFUSED
I was getting the impression that Harvey Dent becomes TWO FACE at JOKERS trail at the end of the DARK KNIGHT, setting up his stint as the third film's primary villian. Man, to think that Heath could have been in a Hannibal Lecture type of presence in the third film. God, it just kills me that he is gone. ... Read More

make it a third if nolan and bale continue if not, leave it a lone. why spoil something so good. it will just be a shame if they continue to have things go down hill and batman begins and lets be fair we can already speak for dark knight, its going to be the film of the year hands down. ... Read More
