Exclusive Pratchett Preview
Watch our Colour of Magic featurette

Exclusive Pratchett Preview
After Hogfather it was only a matter of time before another Pratchett adaptation winged its way to our living rooms. Well, the wait is almost over as this Easter sees the arrival of the debut Discworld novels, The Colour Of Magic and The Light Fantastic arriving on our screens as one feature-length adventure.

With a cast featuring the likes of David Jason, Sean Astin and Tim Curry, there should be enough here to keep both Pratchett-die hards and Discworld newcomers amused and we have an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette to whet your appetite.

The Colour Of Magic airs this Easter on Sky One and you can find out more by going to www.sky.com/magic.

The Colour of Magic
I have a deep love of these books and am buoyed by the fact that Mr Pratchett has had so much input on this adaptation. The director sounds like he really loves the Discworld and by the few snippets on view here it seems like its been brought to life amazingly well considering its not been Hollywood financed, which is a good thing as the bods in LA would have raped the soul out of it. I agree with you about Rincewind Red Avenger as I always saw him as an old white haired fella ... Read More

RE: Miscasting!!!
Sigh.... I'm pretty sick of explaining this but here goes... Back when I read The Colour of Magic in 1986 - the cover had Rincewind as a white bearded wizard. So did The Light Fantastic and so did every other Rincewind book up to The Last Continent.  Then poor old Josh Kirby passed away and Paul Kidby took over.  Now around the time of Mort - Clarecraft also started doing models based on Discworld Characters and they drew Rincewind younger, so did the PC Game and so did Paul... Read More

RE: Miscasting!!!
David Jason is far too old to play Rincewind; how's he going to run away from anyone? And Sean Astin: surely Twoflower is Japanese! (Okay, "Auriental" to be exact) ... Read More

Miscasting!!!
David Jason was great as Albert (although quite why they called him an elf in the Godfather, I'm not sure!) but totally miscast as Rincewind. He needs to be far more weedy and, harsh as it sounds, younger too. Nigel Planer would have been a much better bet as Rincewind ... Read More
