Edgar Wright Talks Ant Man
And the full Grindhouse experience

Edgar Wright Talks Ant Man
A lot of readers have been asking us recently whether we in the UK will ever see the full double bill version of Grindhouse, as Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez originally intended it. And the answer now is yes. The film will get a limited cinema release March 28, but first it'll receive its UK premiere at the Prince Charles cinema in London, courtesy of Edgar Wright.

"It's long overdue for fans to see it in its original intended form," Wright told us. "It’s a shame it got split up overseas...I saw it a couple of times in the states, and I think it worked brilliantly...The Prince Charles is the perfect place for it. That movie-going experience doesn’t have to be entirely state of the art, doesn't have to be digital projection. There's an atmosphere about that, and the snap crackle and pop of watching films in that way, that never goes away".

The Hot Fuzz director will host a screening of the full Planet Terror/Death Proof mash-up, complete with faux trailers (one directed by Wright), on March 8. You can book tickets here.

While chatting to Wright, we also asked about what he might be doing next. The obvious choice would be Ant Man, the adaptation of Marvel's comic book about a shrinking superhero who can communicate with insects. He's been attached to the comedy for some time.

"It could be that. I finished the script and I'm having a meeting about it next week," he said. "But it depends which comes first in the queue basically. I've been working on two at once, and I'm also about to start developing two more scripts, one of which is with Simon [Pegg]. It could be Scott Pilgrim (another comic book adaptation who must slay a girl's evil exes in order to date her) is next or it could be Ant Man, we shall see."

The Ultimates would be a bit to unfamily frendly if you ask me it would be an 18 cert film if done like the comics it would put the studio off I would love to see it but i'm not gonna hold my breath ... Read More

I heard Pegg and Wright were working on a sci-fi film next after their Horror and Action homages. Considering they're two of the biggest sci fi geeks in the world AND Pegg is the new Scotty, I'd be excited to see that. ... Read More

The Ultimates.
This post may sound stupid I know, but if they are going to do Ant Man properly then it cant really be a comedy. Ant Man is a BAD character, and is also part of the upcoming Avengers Film. Anyone read Ultimates? You'll know what I mean if you have. He's a wife beater and genuine arsehole. ... Read More

I am an admitted comic fan but An Man is going to have to be something truly spectacular to be anything other than a flop. the very premise of a man who can shrink due to a special gas he invents and who has a helmet to communicates with ants isn't particularly inspiring and I very much doubt is going to draw the crowds and the minturised people aspect was done years ago in Honey I Shrunk the Kids. ... Read More
