First Street Kings Trailer Online Keanu Reeves 'n' the hood Source: Yahoo
The first trailer for the new Keanu Reeves movie Street Kings has hit Yahoo. You can see it here.
It's a teaser, so it's light on story, but the plot concerns Reeves as a cop traumatised by the death of his wife who then, to add insult to injury, finds himself implicated in the death of a fellow officer, forcing him to question the organisation he's worked for for years.
This has definite flavours of Training Day, in look as well as tone. That's unsurprising given that it's directed by David Ayer, who wrote that movie. It doesn't at this point show anything to mark it out from the rest of the 'pissed off cops who only operate at night' genre, but it's co-written by James Ellroy, so that's definitely piqued our interest.
The trailer looks like Training Day Vol XY to me, but then, David Ayer - Training Day's weakest link - is both writer and director for this one, so this comes as no surprise. Which is sad, considering the three leads Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie. The trailer's music put me off, hopefully the soundtrack will offer much more variety.
I'm looking forward to more and better glimpses into what this is all about, so far I'm on the fence about this movie's box office success.

Are the rappers of the world uniting to fund films, with the proviso that not only is their music used for the soundtrack, but that they get acting parts too? Is their money replacing hedge fund money? Someone needs to say NO! ... Read More
This seems good, I like a lot of action and Keanu Reeves seems to be back on the action line. Quite surpised that Hugh Laurie is in it but whatever goes, I hope it might be a success when it comes out in April. ... Read More
Although it looks reasonably conventional so far, the weight of its cast and creatives suggests it could actually be pretty good. I'll reserve judgement for now but hope that it lives up to its pedigree. ... Read More
