Transformers 2 Delayed?
We may not see it in 2009

Transformers 2 Delayed?
The Hollywood Reporter is, erm, reporting that Transformers 2 has been shunted from its June 26th 2009 release date. There's no confirmed reason given, but it wouldn't take a genius detective to surmise that the ongoing writer's strike could stall the movie. Transformers 2 is said to have a script, but unless that script is absolutely locked, then the movie can't go ahead, as no changes can be made.

On the plus side, director Michael Bay has posted on his blog with a little update on the movie. He's said that "the new robots are really really unique* and there are a lot of them this time". Since the bits with the robots were by far the most enjoyable parts of the first movie – with the segments featuring the fat dude and Australian girl by far the worst – then this is very good news.

*There are no degrees of uniqueness. Something is either unique – meaning one of a kind – or it is not. This is just a bugbear of ours.

RE: Oh woe!
L: Rich Deckard Then again who needs a story when you've got big robots pounds seven shades of s~~t out of eachother? Agreed - who gives a fuck about a plot with big arse robots kicking the shit out of things. I'd just prefer to the action to be clear and precise enough so it didn't feel like I was watching it with a siv over my face. ... Read More

RE: Oh woe!
Yep it's a real shame, the most incredibly unimaginative blockbuster in living memory (apart from 'The Island') is not getting an immediate sequel.  Praise the lord I say.  Michael Bay is a total joke and I, for one, am overjoyed by the fact that another squillion dollars won't be wasted on his mindless celluloid excreta. ... Read More

Oh woe!
What a shame, there will be a delay in the next installment of a toy based movie franchise. The first one had plot holes big enough to drive Optimus Prime through so maybe the delay will allow someone to develop a solid story. Then again who needs a story when you've got big robots pounds seven shades of s~~t out of eachother? ... Read More

RE:
L: sedgbj The only good thing about Transformers was the clearly Spielberg-influenced (as Harry Knowles pointed out) parts. Any part where Shia wasn't centre of attention was frankly shit. Especially those RUBBISH robot fights, which did the whole Bourne upclose shakey-cam thing, but unfortunately, as they were robots, you could never tell who was hitting who or what was going on. sp; Ditto. Load of wank. Cancel the second please and give the money to charity. Nice one. ... Read More

I'M GLAD!!!
I'm so glad that Transformers 2 isn't coming out until 2010 or whatever the date is going to be. Since this writing strike is going on Transformers 2 isn't the ONLY film to be delayed. Furthermore, a much better script and great FX can make Transformers 2 possibly THE film for that year. ... Read More
