Van Damme Definitely Not In Rush Hour 3 Exclusive: He made the whole thing up
Earlier this year there was much internet ballyhoo about the return of Jean Claude Van Damme to the action blockbuster, playing the villain in next year's Rush Hour 3. It pains us a little to say this, but it's all lies. Van Damme confirmed to Empire that he will not be in the third in the Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker action franchise. In fact, he admits, he actually made the whole thing up himself.
"You know," he laughs, "it was just a comment, a joke, that I made during an interview. I said, “We’ve got Jackie, we’ve got Chris Tucker — what about me, making it a trio?” And this became something. But to be honest with you, if I did a comedy, I wouldn’t want to do something like Rush Hour, more a Lethal Weapon type of action comedy, something with a sense of reality. Like, for example, that movie with Bobby De Niro and that guy in handcuffs". He's talking about either Midnight Run or some De Niro home movie that's going to cause quite a scandal. Almost definitely the former.
Rush Hour 3 sees the mismatched buddies getting mixed up with the Triads in Paris and will be released, sans Van Damme, next summer. But, really, why would you now bother to see it?

That would be one notch against Roman Polanski being in it. I'm still not watching it on the basis that Polanski fled America before standing trial for statutory rape and indecent behaviour... he's a sex offender. Mind you, I think Van Damme beat up on a girl once too. Great bunch, these actors. I don't want to get on a moral high horse about Polanski, sure he must've had a hard time, but he should stand trial like everyone else has to down here in the real world. In all honesty though, does any... Read More
yeah yeah, he needs another hollywood vehicle, they all do. Problem is these guys are old now, I watched Hard Corps the other night (you know where i got it!) & it was awful. slow action, lazy gunplay, repetitive fighting.... nah. Lungren is beyond DTV these days, Mark Dacascos is a great baddie contender. TONY FUCKING JAAAA??!? ... Read More
Bugger i was looking forward to seeing the return of van damme!!!
His recent straight to dvd movies havn't been that bad for low budget films. Wake of death and in hell are both perfectly watchable films. ... Read More
this is a Damme shame. Van Damme could do with something like that to get him back... as I often say; the guy CAN do good movies if he has the right project. ... Read More
Personally I don't think Seagal deserves another chance, hes clearly too lazy to stay fit enough to do the stunt work required for an action film so why should anyone help him out. I loved his early films (in a "so bad they're good sorta way") but hes just become a bloated idiot of recent years plus hes charging £28.50 a ticket for his latest concert tour (i was going to go for a laugh until i found out) so he obviously doesn't care about ripping off his fans. ...
