Puss In Boots Hitting Cinemas No longer a direct-to-DVD release Source: DreamWorks Animation
If you were thinking that the Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots was just a cheap cash-in that would be pumped out on DVD, think again.
It’s actually getting to go the Toy Story 2 route – and will emerge blinking into cinemas. But we’re in for a wait – it won’t arrive until after Shrek 4, which isn’t scheduled to hit screens until 2010.
“Puss In Boots is a unique creative property that has the potential to be a valuable extension of the Shrek franchise," DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg announced in a statement. "We are excited to be developing this into a feature film where we think it has the greatest opportunity."
Before either film strikes, DreamWorks will unleash the Jack Black-voiced Kung Fu Panda in 2008 and another, still sketchy film with the working title of Monsters Vs Aliens (just based on the title, we already want to see this one).
Oh, and if you loved the penguins in Madagascar, you’ll be delighted to learn that there’s a TV show being created based around the fickle flipper-flappers.

Sounds great. If it were up to me I'd scrap Shrek, scrap the donkey, scrap the princess and just stick with Puss. The Shrek franchise was vastly over-rated until the feline appeared! ... Read More
