The two men who brought us the script for The Break-Up – Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender – are about to make their joint debut in the director’s chair for The Golden Tux.

Tux was the original sale that helped the pair break into Hollywood. As it drifted through development hell they wrote endless drafts, tailoring the script to various actors who flirted with the idea of starring in it. It eventually went to the back of the rack and looked like it might be staying on the peg. But with the success of The Break-Up, it’s back out in the open, with Garelick and Lavender calling the shots.

The plot finds Dan Fogler playing a professional best man, who's hired by a quiet type for his wedding. The pair strike up an unusual friendship.

"We've definitely come full circle," Garelick told The Hollywood Reporter. "It was the first thing we sold. It's been five or six years, but now we'll be able to make it and have it be our vision."

Apparently the pair has been studying the methods of directors they’ve worked for. "I spent four movies being Joel Schumacher's assistant," says Garelick. "And The Break-Up was such a collaborative experience, and we learned a tremendous amount."
Let’s hope he learned from Schumacher’s good movie output…
