Well, that didn't take too long. With shooting on Josh Boone's X-Men spin-off New Mutants due to start next month, the final slot in the younger main cast has now been filled. Blu Hunt, who has appeared on TV shows including Vampire Diaries companion show The Originals, will play Danielle Moonstar.

The Native American telepath character represents the latest of the titular mutants to be cast, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball and Henry Zaga as Sunspot. Then there's Rosario Dawson in talks to be the younger characters' mutant mentor, Dr. Ceilia Reyes.

Aiming to offer another fresh take on a superhero story with a horror-thriller vibe, Boone's story will see the heroes learning to cope with their powers as they escape a secret facility where they've been imprisoned.

Boone's cameras will roll in Boston, and the film has already targeted a 13 April, 2018 release date.
