With many of his Days Of Future Past and Apocalypse friends returning for the latest main X-Men film Dark Phoenix, it only makes sense to learn that Evan Peters is speeding back to the mutant franchise to play Peter Maximoff, AKA Quicksilver.

The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that Canadian actor Lamar Johnson will be part of the cast, though his character is being kept a secret for now.

They join a cast that is rapidly swelling, with regular X-faces James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult all returning alongside Apocalypse recruits Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee for a movie that will adapt one of the most famous mutant storylines: with Jean Grey's (Turner) powers rising to a dangerous level, making her a threat to the team and the world.

Though Quicksilver doesn't appear in the comics version of the tale, Peters' character is such a favourite by now that it seems natural to have him return. Simon Kinberg, who has been a producer and writer on many of the previous X-movies, is adding director to his credits for this one, with the film due out in November 2018.
