Set in 1960s Paris, Jean-Louis (Luchini) is the uptight owner of a building that houses a bunch of Spanish maids on the sixth floor. To people like Jean-Louis, these women are only seen as hired help, nothing more. However, after the new recruit Mara (Verbeke) gets a job in Jean-Louis's household, he starts to see these women as human beings and, eventually, friends.
Slickly satirical '60s rom-com involving stockbroker Fabrice Luchini and the women in his life. However, patronising stereotypes and ungallant humour undermine the insights into bourgeois life.
Enjoyably satirical and occasionally insightful, it's betrayed by some lazy stereotyping.
