Wild Tales Review

Image for Wild Tales

Incorporating six short stories inspired by the pressures of modern-life, injustice, coincidence and escalating extremes of human behaviour, set in Argentina.

★★★★

Incorporating six short stories inspired by the pressures of modern-life, this Oscar-nominated feature by Argentinian director Damián Szifrón is a blast, juggling various shades of black comedy, starting with the uproarious Pasternak, in which random passengers on a plane find they have rather a lot in common.

The five films that follow don’t always hit the same hysterical heights (notably The Proposal, a much more sombre story about a fatal hit-and-run), but the climactic wedding tale Until Death Do Us Part brings back all the subversive, crazy chaos of Pedro Almodóvar.
