Boozing, shagging celebrity chef Harry (Gleeson) finds his softer side after a bump on the head leaves him with the belief that he’s still 18 but wife, Ruth thinks he’s faking as they were just about to get a divorce that would have left Harry penniless.

Remember Overboard, the Goldie Hawn comedy in which, suffering from amnesia, she went from spoiled rich bitch to loving mum? Wild About Harry is the Irish equivalent, as boozing, shagging celebrity chef Harry (Gleeson) finds his softer side after a bump on the head leaves him with the belief that he’s still 18.

Harry’s wife Ruth (Donohoe) thinks he’s faking as they were just about to get a divorce that would have left Harry penniless. It’s a sweet comedy rather than a biting one (there’s a potentially sharp sub-plot involving a rabid politician out for Harry’s blood, but it’s never fully realised) that works well because the cast, especially Gleeson, are so likeable. Cute and cuddly stuff — just like Harry.
