War On Everyone

He’s dealt with dodgy Garda in The Guard and dodgy priests in Calvary. Now John Michael McDonagh is tackling dodgy US cops in The War On Everyone, and we’ve been given our first taste.

According to the definitely-not-official warning, this initial trailer “contains shameless drug use, sexy dancing, strong bloody violence, fucking strong language and the music of Glen Campbell”. Consider yourself warned.

Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Peña are the two crooked cops heading up this romp, who attempt to blackmail every crim they come across, until one tries to blackmail them in return.

As the trailer suggests, these two are so morally dubious, they occasionally forget they’re supposed to be custodians of the law. Alongside Skarsgård and Peña, the cast includes Theo James, Tessa Thompson and Paul Reiser.

Serving up action and (Shane?) black comedy in equal measures, War On Everyone is gearing up for a September 30 UK and Ireland release date.

Fancy seeing it a bit earlier than everyone else? Empire is hosting a very special preview screening of War On Everyone as part of Empire Live, running at London's O2 on the weekend of September 23-25 – tickets are available now.
