When Ruth Whitney abandons her two children with her sister Barbara is left to take care of them
This tacky teleplay tells the old story of a career woman who's landed with a couple of kids after her tarty sister does a bunk. Then, just as all have become pals, back comes ma and the lawyers trade insults at the custody hearing. Pulling this variation on the theme up by its bootstraps is the excellent Stockard Channing.
The children's characters are likeable but you never really get to know them as they are given the basics to work with from the director just to make sure you aggree that Channing's character would want them.
Sadly she can do no more than give her best as the rest of the film comes up woefully short and looses any depth it had built on in the first half.
Run of the mill TV custody drama
