Critters with dreams are big business these days. We’ve had a panda who can fight and a rat that can cook: now along comes this clunky DreamWorks cartoon about a snail who yearns for colossal velocity. Voiced by Ryan Reynolds, hero-in-a-whole-shell Turbo makes a pretty bland hero as he befriends a gang of hip-hop-loving molluscs and prepares for the Indy 500. On the plus side, the animation is often stunning, Bill Hader’s a fun French (naturellement) baddie, and you do get to see Paul Giamatti, in gastropod form, ride around on a big crow.

If you want to see Paul Giamatti as a snail - and who doesn't - you've come to the right place. If you don't, wait for Cloudy 2.
