Tin Review

Image for Tin

West Cornwall, 1895. A weather-beaten opera company arrives to give a performance of Beethoven’s Fidelio and finds itself tangled up in a scam to offload worthless shares in the town’s dying mine.

Ingeniously made with 1/12th scale models, this is a lively recreation of a financial swindle in 1890s Cornwall involving a tin mine, an opera company and some crooked bankers.

The ending is wildly melodramatic, but the performances are admirably committed.
