There has been speculation in the past few months about the running time of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, because yes, people do want to know how long the next adventure will be. Now we have apparent confirmation from writer/director Rian Johnson himself that the movie, including credits, will run two hours and 30 minutes. Bring a cushion to sit on! Or maybe a Porg*.

Speaking at a press conference to promote the film in France, Johnson confirmed the running time, which makes The Last Jedi the longest Star Wars film to date. "Disney gave us a real freedom in writing," he said. "It was something very organic. For me, it was like when I worked on my old movies."

In related Johnson-announcement news, he dropped word that Rogue One's Gareth Edwards will have a cameo, but stayed mum about other potential famous (and/or royal) faces showing up – or covered by Stormtrooper helmets – in the movie.

The Last Jedi is speeding towards us with the power of the Millennium Falcon and will be in UK cinemas on 14 December.
