Original Title:

Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water, The

A belated second entry in the only movie franchise to revolve around corporate espionage on the seabed.

Once again, Plankton is bent on stealing the secret recipe for the Krabby Patty, kicking off another adventure involving a visit to dry land and a bizarre cameo (a mega-bearded Antonio Banderas, taking over from David Hasselhoff). It's over-familiar and the first half's pace is sea-sluggish. But inspired touches include Matt Berry as a druid dolphin called Bubbles and an Avengers-riffing climax as weird as anything you'll find in a rockpool. Caution: the UK version has been infiltrated by Alan Carr.

The first half's pace is (sea-)sluggish but there are inspired touches on the journey.
