Original Title:

Salton Sea, The

Memento meets Pulp Fiction meets Lock, Stock, with a dash of Rush thrown in for good measure.

D. J. Caruso's murky, funny tale of a widowed undercover cop (Val Kilmer) and the drugged-up lowlifes he's embroiled with is a jumble; but with such a rich seam of inspiration behind it, it hits the mark more often than it misses.

Kilmer is fine, meanwhile, but his thunder is stolen by Vincent D'Onofrio, who's nothing short of terrific as his nemesis.

Solidly entertaining, creepy and atmosperic thriller
