Director Jamie Shovlin set his hand to making a low-budget exploitation film Hiker Meat in 2009. Although the film didn't come off, he funneled the project into this making-of documentary.
Although occasionally self-consciously arty, this is a mostly engaging behind-the-scenes account of the remaking of Hiker Meat, a film that only ever existed as a 120-shot audiovisual outline compiled from sampled clips from 1980s horror movies. Ambitious, assured and amusing.
An engaging experiment in lo-fi filmmaking.
