Original Title:

Roommate, The

The Roommate, or as it should probably be called, Single White Gossip Girl, focuses on the challenges of college life and whether you can truly trust who you share a small dorm room with. Minka Kelly’s Sara thinks she’s on safe ground with Leighton Meester’s Rebecca despite one or two quirks, but things quickly turn from BFF to batshit crazy stalking. The two leads (and Cam Gigandet, as Kelly’s love interest Stephen) fail to ignite the dull mishmash of thriller clichés, and the twists are laughably easy to predict. It staggers through the motions like a hungover sorority girl, never getting close to decent and never becoming so bad it’s enjoyable.

The clichés come thick and fast in this ponderous thriller.
