Give Indra Kumar an award-winning ensemble cast with a script that explores relationships within a traditional Indian family, and what does he do?
Turn out a dull family drama that manages to dig up as many cliches as it can. Villainous Amrish Puri - Mola Ram in 'Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom' - viciously opposes his daughter's love affair with partner Anil Kapoor, causing her to leave home in true Bollywood style. Despite flashes of poignancy, watching Rishtey is a long and frustrating experience.
This film does not live up to its potential, its award winning ensemble cast being let down by the uninspired direction. Not a great advert for Bollywood.
