It might have been briefly displaced by Rampage, but A Quiet Place quickly rebounded, seeing off new competition to return to the top of the US box office charts in third week of release. The sci-fi horror earned $22 million this weekend, according to studio estimates.
This latest performance cements the film as one of the best performers for Paramount in recent years – with $132..3 million, it has earned more domestically than Transformers: The Last Knight, where its budget would probably have been spent animating Optimus Prime's wheels.
Rampage settled into second, taking in $21 million, and stomping on newcomers including new Amy Schumer comedy I Feel Pretty, which landed third with $16.2 million and belated, crowdsourced sequel Super Troopers 2, arriving in fourth with an expectation-busting $14.7 million. Horror pic Truth Or Dare, meanwhile, was shoved down to fifth on $7.9 million.
In sixth, we find Ready Player One still doing decent business, earning $7.5 million, while Blockers fell to seventh via $6.9 million. Black Panther dropped a couple of places, and shed a few screens, but continues to wow, taking home $4.6 million for a US total of $681 million. Crime thriller Traffik made $3.8 million, while Isle Of Dogs fell to 10th and $3.4 million.
