Original Title:

Offender

A men gets himself locked up so he can avenge his girlfriend in this gritty Brit thriller. Tommy (Joe Cole) enters a young offenders institute full of seasoned criminals. Topically, everyone assumes he’s a rioter but he’s secretly after the gang member who attacked pregnant Elise (Kimberley Nixon). With a rough idea of who’s responsible, he must get to the truth while trying not to get killed. Much of the rookie-prisoner routine is familiar, but there’s suspense and style here. Performances vary (ex offenders star) but Cole is good, as is Shaun Dooley as a vindictive prison officer. A decent stab at a revenge thriller from rookie director Ron Scalpello.

A solid revenge thriller in which Cole excels.
