Robert Harmon's tale lacks much of the one ingredient Jean-Claude Van Damme fans rely on - action. The warning signs are in the opening titles (Joe Ezsterhaz gets story and screenplay credits). Letting any fugitive, even an innocent one, move in with a widow (Patricia Arquette) and her two cute kids in farmland threatened by an unscrupulous property developer (Joss Ackland) is not much of a set-up for our hero.
Neat motorbike stunts 20 minutes from the end promise improvement, but we are left with little more than schmaltz and pitchfork-handed fisticuffs ensue.
