Worthington Is The Candidate

Not to be confused with the Robert Redford film of the same name, Sam Worthington is set to star in The Candidate, a conspiracy thriller which sees the Terminator: Salvation and Avatar star play a man accused of murdering a prostitute.

You've got to admit, it looks bad. He wakes up in a hotel room with shaky memories of meeting a woman the night before, only for her to turn up dead in the bathroom and him to be blackmailed for the crime. As the aspiring lawyer tries to clear his name, he discovers a conspiracy that leads back to his father's unsolved death a year and a half before.

It's a remake of Kasper Barfoed's 2008 Danish movie of the same name, with the script written this time by Beau Willimon, a name that we like to think is Jamaican, even though it probably isn't.

Anyway, if Terminator was Worthington's Indy and Avatar is his Star Wars, this looks set to be his Frantic. While conspiracy thrillers are a dime a dozen, he's got the ability to sell urgency and a certain controlled panic - right?
