Winehouse Singing Next Bond Song?
Working with Mark Ronson on a tune
Amy Winehouse's name has been mentioned in connection with the Quantum of Solace theme tune since before it had a title or Bond girl. In fact, the rumours probably started before anyone working on the movie had even thought about the title song. But now, it seems, in a rare case of tabloid scuttlebutt proving true, she's actually in the running for the job.
Mark Ronson, Winehouse's regular producer, told the BBC that the singer has been approached and the pair have submitted a demo. "They asked Amy, and I think Amy said that if she did it, she'd want to do it with me. So hopefully something will come of it," he said. "The demo sounds like a James Bond theme, hopefully. But I don't know if it'll get used."
Ronson goes on to stress that he doesn't think the pair are the only people who've been approached and that this is far from a done deal. You can read more of the interview here.
We can definitely imagine this working. Ronson's style is very drums and brass, and Winehouse has got some powerful pipes when she's in form, so we can imagine the pair bringing an interesting twist to the traditional Bond lung-buster. What would you think of Winehouse singing the tune?
