Just yesterday it was reported that Departed** scribe William Monahan was looking to reunite with the film’s director Martin Scorsese for a remake of 1974 drama The Gambler. Now comes word of a geekier project on his schedule, with Monahan being brought in to work his Oscar-scooping magic on the script for Sin City 2.

While co-writers/directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have been developing the sequel for years, it’s had to wait for Rodriguez’ schedule to open up and for the funding to lock into place. That was announced at Comic-Con, along with the Austin auteur revealing some of the material that will be used: "Frank has written a script for Sin City 2. It’s called A Dame to Kill For. Even though Miller is the man behind Sin City in its graphic novel form, it appears that both he and Rodriguez think the latest draft could benefit from Monahan’s touch, so he’s been hired to polish it up.

It’s not the only thing he’s working on right now either: Monahan was also one of the writers who worked on **Tron Legacy **director Joseph Kosinski’s next pic, Horizons (formerly Oblivion), which is now looking for actresses to star alongside Tom Cruise…
