Will Ferrell Will Be A Flamingo Thief

With the likes of 2006’s Stranger Than Fiction and 2010’s Everything Must Go, Will Ferrell showed a real willingness to stretch himself from his regular OTT comedy shtick. He’s looking to dip his toe into the unusual again for** Flamingo Thief**.

You, Me And Dupree writer Michael LeSieur hit the 2011 Black List with his adaptation of Susan Trott’s novel. The plot follows Tim Forrester (Ferrell) a lawyer whose life collapses when his wife leaves him and he becomes obsessed with stealing flamingo figurines. As you do.

It sounds like it could be a little broader than Everything Must Go’s low-key tone, but that will of course depend on whom the producers hire to direct it.

Ferrell is back in broader comedy mode for his next couple of movies: he’s got Casa De Mi Padre set to arrive next month in the US (there’s no set UK date for that one yet) and he’s hard at work on Jay Roach’s Dog Fight. He’s also produced and features in Tim And Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, which premiered to very mixed reactions in Sundance, and which may finally make its way over here sometime later this year.
