Do You Want To Be Superior?

Dave Lizewski. Matt Anderson. Blake Morrow. And [Your Name Here]...?

It's become something of a tradition for comics uber-whizz, Mark Millar, to auction off the naming rights to his new characters, allowing readers the chance to have their monikers live forever in print. And, the way Millar is going, on celluloid.

The above names, for example, belong to the winners of Millar's last three auctions - but you might know them better as, respectively, Kick-Ass, Nemesis and Nemesis' own, well, super-cop nemesis.

And now Millar's doing it again with his latest creator-owned comic, Superior. The story of a young boy with multiple sclerosis who becomes, via dint of a magical wish, the superhero of his dreams, Superior - written by Millar, and drawn by Leinil Yu - launches in October. And, to continue the wish fulfilment theme, you too can be that young boy. And, with a movie deal in the offing, there's no telling where this could end up, as Millar explains.

"Dave Lizewski is now an action figure and movie icon as well as a comic-book character and both Matt Anderson and Blake Morrow are delighted to find themselves as the leads in the upcoming Tony Scott adaptation of Nemesis," said the Scottish writer. "We had great success with the Kick-Ass and Nemesis auctions, and hopefully we can raise a similar sum again with this opportunity. To star as a comic-book hero is pretty cool - this could be your big chance!"

If you fancy being a superhero in your spare time, simply go to the auction's eBay page, and place your bid. (Do please use your real name, and keep it clean; obscene bids will be discounted.)

All proceeds from the auction will go to a special needs unit in a school where Millar's brother, Dr Bobby Millar, has been raising cash for handicapped children for several years.

Good luck - and if you do win, let us know. We'll probably want to interview you for a future issue of Empire...
