Following the cabin-in-the-woods craziness of Antichrist, chaos will shortly be reigning again, as Lars von Trier preps Melancholia.

It's apparently a "psychological disaster movie" (so what was Antchrist then?), with Melancholia seemingly the name of a large planet that (possibly) appears in dangerously close orbit to Earth. Details are scarce so far, so the extent to which this is the von Trier version of a sci-fi epic is unclear. Producer Peter Aalbaek Jensen says that "as a disaster movie it will use some special effects, but nothing compared to Hollywood". He also says that the project is coming together quickly, with financing from all von Trier and Zentropa Entertainment's regular European co-conspirators.

Von Trier's only word so far is that we can expect "no more happy endings". The horror, the horror...
