Though his name has recently come up in connection with season two of HBO crime drama True Detective, Vince Vaughn appears to be sticking with cinematic comedy for now. It has now emerged that he’s attached to Sony’s **The Politician{ =nofollow}.

Goon/What If director Michael Dowse is aboard to direct the film, which Seth Rogen is producing alongside Evan Goldberg. The script comes courtesy of Matthew Bass and Theodore Bressman, who cooked up the concept of a Washington, D.C. politician caught in a prostitution scandal.

Nothing really new there, you might think, but the situation soon worsens when the dodgy politico and his less-than-competent cohort go on the run from drug dealers, the FBI and U.S. Marshals.

Vaughn next has travel comedy Unfinished Business set to arrive, with a UK release date of March 6 next year. That will be followed by Term Life, an action drama comic book adaptation that finds the actor reunited with his Couples Retreat director Peter Billingsley, which doesn’t yet have a release slot.
