At the far reaches of the DC Comics universe, miles from Arkham Asylum and Wayne Manor, lives NBC’s Powerless. The new comedy series, which promises a pop-culture skew on the world of superheroes, will be strutting its stuff at Comic-Con. It has a new promo poster to get the ball rolling, showing off its latest cast addition.

Undateable’s Ron Funches has joined Vanessa Hudgens, Christina Kirk, Community’s Danny Pudi and Alan Tudyk in the first ever comedy based in DC’s historic comic-book universe. Expect a tongue-in-cheek take on the genre as Hudgens’ young insurance adjuster Emily Locke deals with ordinary folk struggling to clear up the damage caused by superheroes.

When Emily finds her own life disrupted by a superhero and stands up to the disruptive latex warrior, she finds herself elevated to the status of hero, not least with her colleagues at Retcon Insurance.

Powerless debuts on NBC in the Spring. There’s no word on a UK release as yet.
